Looking for ideas to be more active? Seniors who are more active are typically in better health, physically, emotionally, and mentally. This article will give you some ideas to jumpstart your activity!

Exercise - It's time to start walking, jogging, swimming, taking aerobics classes, cycling, Yoga, Pilates, Strength training, Cross country skiing, or Tai Chi; Line dancing, square dancing, ballroom dancing, golf

Volunteer - Decide where your interests and talents lie, and start looking for opportunities. There are websites that connect volunteers with organizations; Senior Corps; hospitals, food pantry.

Reading Club - what a great way to meet new people, socialize, and keep your mind engaged.

Mentor a child through library programs, church programs or Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

Civic activities - voter registration, campaigning, attending city council meetings, etc.

Classes at your local college. Painting, photography, writing, computers and technology.

Mental activities: Crossword puzzles, playing chess, bridge, poker, learning a musical instrument

Social activities: Concerts, performances, art museums, science centers, travel, card games, board games, senior centers; reach out to family members through letters, email, or social networks.
